NUS Law Alumni: Most Influential Lawyers under 40

NUS Law is delighted that 13 of our alumni were featured among the 20 most influential lawyers aged 40 and under!

The list by Singapore Business Review features the best 20 legal luminaries under the age of 40, who were shortlisted from hundreds of nominees. The nominees had specialisations from different areas of law, including disputes resolution, litigation, mergers and acquisitions, finance, construction law, intellectual property, media law, family law, and energy.

Students Develop Simulator for Divorce Assets Division

NUS Law’s Jerrold Soh ’18 and three of his peers have developed a simulator that can predict the division of assets in a divorce case.

In a report published by The Straits Times, the 26-year-old final-year law and economics student said that he had become aware of the impending possibility that junior lawyers might soon be replaced by artificial intelligence (AI) and thought he should learn more about AI.

Law IV: Valediction

This year, the Class of 2018 continued the tradition with “Law IV 2018: Valediction”, performed from 23 to 25 February. Among the invited guests were beneficiaries from Hagar Singapore, who enjoyed a night of catchy tunes and laughter. The efforts of our graduating class were not in vain, with more than $9,000 raised at the end of three nights.

NUS Law wins 11th Frankfurt Investment Arbitration Moot

Congratulations to Low Jia Rong '19, Emmanuel Aw '19, Violet Huang '20 and Tan Fong Han '20 for emerging Champions at the 2018 Frankfurt Investment Arbitration Moot! The team also picked up the Gary Born Award for the Best Non-OECD team.

This moot was organised by the Wilhelm Merton Centre for European Integration and International Economic Order and McDermott Will & Emery. .

NUS Law Wins Gowling WLG IP Moot 2018

NUS Law students swept the top prizes of the Gowling WLG IP Moot 2018 competition! Ryan Kwan ’20 was declared the champion, and Elizabeth Teoh ’20 was named first runner-up. The winner of the competition received a cash prize of $1,200 and a global internship at any Gowling WLG office of his choice.

Law Alumni Mentor Programme 2017/2018 

On 23 March 2018, 35 alumni mentors and 65 student mentees gathered at the Bukit Timah Campus for the second networking event of our Law Alumni Mentor Programme 2017/2018. The evening provided our students with many opportunities to talk to different mentors during dinner, small group discussions, and while munching on a dessert of Mini Magnums.

On Good Friday, 30 March 2018, 80 NUS Law alumni and students gathered at the beautiful Intercontinental Shanghai Ruijin Hotel for the Shanghai Alumni Reunion. The evening was hosted by the Dean, Professor Simon Chesterman, and our Alumni Relations team.
