Reunions & Alumni Events (January – June 2025)

July 29, 2025 | Alumni

We’re proud to highlight the vibrant events that brought our community together in the first half of the year. From lively reunions to inspiring conversations, these moments reflect the enduring spirit of NUS Law. A heartfelt thank you to our alumni for showing up and sharing your time and talents. Your continued support is what keeps our community thriving.

Class of 2013: Reunited at BTC

The Class of 2013 at the Federal Building

The Class of 2013 returned to the Bukit Timah campus (BTC) on 15 February 2025 for a belated 10th anniversary reunion (also their first gathering since graduation). Nearly 70 classmates enjoyed a convivial lunch, joined by Professor Andrew Simester, Dean of NUS Law, and several of their former teachers—Professors Hans Tjio, A. Kumaralingam, Lan Luh Luh ’89 and Tan Cheng Han ’87. With the Faculty set to relocate to Kent Ridge at the end of this year, the gathering was especially poignant, offering the cohort a final opportunity to celebrate together at the historic campus that shaped their formative years.

The event was a testament to the enduring generosity and camaraderie of the Class of 2013 as they continued to support the Class of 2013 Grant—a fund established in their graduating year with proceeds from their Law IV concert. The Grant provides financial assistance to needy law students to alleviate the high cost of living. As one of the youngest cohorts to establish a named fund, the Class of 2013 continues to make a tangible impact on the NUS Law community.

In his speech, Professor Simester expressed appreciation to the Class for supporting students not just through financial support, but also by giving of their time as mentors in the Law Alumni Mentor Programme (LAMP). Special thanks to the Class Committee—Hariz Lee, Prakaash Silvam, Chan Yong Neng, David Fong, Nicole Mao, Shawn Tan, Chia Huai Yuan and Jerome Seng—for their efforts in reuniting their classmates!

LAMP AY2024/2025 Mix & Mingle

Teamwork and smiles as mentors and mentees tackle the trivia quiz together

The Law Alumni Mentor Programme (LAMP) for AY 2024/2025 wrapped up on a high note with its much-anticipated Mix & Mingle event, held on the evening of 21 February 2025 at the Bukit Timah campus. Serving as the concluding chapter to the mentoring journey for the year, the event brought together 63 mentors and 87 mentees for a night of connection, camaraderie and reflection on a fruitful year of guidance and growth.

Participants enjoyed a lively and relaxed evening which featured a sumptuous buffet dinner, a crowd-pleasing satay live station and a refreshing frozen yogurt station for dessert. Drinks flowed as mentors and mentees mingled and built new professional and personal links across batches. The evening’s highlight was an interactive NUS Law trivia quiz, where teams competed for the top spots and winners walked away with an assortment of attractive prizes.

As we look ahead to the next cycle of LAMP, we extend our heartfelt thanks to all mentors for taking the time to invest in the lives of our students despite their busy schedules. We also warmly welcome both returning mentors and new mentors to join us for LAMP AY 2025/2026. Do keep a lookout for our e-mail invitations and be part of another enriching year together!

Class of 2010: Celebrating 15 Years

Celebrating with a taste of Ren Min—crafted by a fellow NUS Law alumnus

On 15 March 2025, the lobby of the Oei Tiong Ham Building came alive as the Class of 2010 gathered for their 15th anniversary reunion. Lunch provided the perfect backdrop for classmates to catch up, enhanced by craft beer from Ren Min, the brand founded by fellow law alumnus Manbeer Singh.

Remarkably, this celebration took place just two years after their previous gathering in 2023 to mark a belated 10th anniversary. This memorable occasion was made possible by the organising committee—Remy Choo, Li Fangyi, Jonathan Lee, Ushan Premaratne, Lin Yuankai and Michelle Tan—who wanted to seize the opportunity to have one last reunion at BTC while they could.

One highlight of the event was the presence of former Dean, Professor Tan Cheng Han ’87, who led the Faculty during their student years. In his speech, he commended the Class for making the effort to stay connected despite demanding careers and young families, and encouraged them to continue nurturing these bonds in the years to come.

The Class of 2010 once again demonstrated their strong sense of unity and generosity, coming together to support the NUS Law Student Support Fund. Their collective contributions reflect a heartfelt commitment to giving back, helping to ensure that future generations of law students are well-supported and able to thrive.

Class of 2015: A Moving Celebration

Trading stories and sharing laughs with old friends

The Bukit Timah campus was abuzz with excitement on 28 June 2025, as the Class of 2015 gathered for their highly anticipated first milestone reunion to mark 10 years since graduation. With an impressive 86 classmates in attendance, the event boasted the highest turnout for a class reunion so far this year, thanks to the dedicated efforts of classmate Nigel Yeo, who single-handedly organised the occasion. The lively lunch was co-hosted by Professor Andrew Simester, Dean of NUS Law and Professor Alan Tan.

This special occasion was underscored by a moving tribute to late classmate and friend, Andrew Wang Rui Wen. In his honour, the Class announced plans to establish the Class of 2015 Andrew Wang Grant or Bursary, a meaningful initiative that will continue Andrew’s legacy of kindness and support for others. Andrew’s parents, Mr Joseph Wang and Mrs Ginny Wang, were present at the reunion, and his father delivered a heartfelt speech, sharing cherished memories of his son and expressing deep gratitude to the Class for memorialising Andrew in such a significant way. Thus far, classmates have pledged more than $20,000 towards this initiative and hope to reach the $45,000 needed for a bursary.

Professor Simester also addressed the cohort, applauding their strong class spirit and their commitment to fostering a spirit of support within the NUS Law community. The Class of 2015 reunion was not only a joyful return to the campus where it all began, but also a testament to the lasting impact of friendship, generosity and shared purpose.
