CBFL Webinar: Documentary Credits: Document Examination in the Era of Targeted Sanctions and Artificial Intelligence

The Centre for Banking & Finance Law (CBFL) is pleased to have Dr Cayle Lupton from University of Johannesburg conduct a webinar on , “Documentary Credits – Document Examination in the Era of Targeted Sanctions and Artificial Intelligence”. The webinar was held on 27 June 2024 and attended by 40 number of participants worldwide.  In his lecture, Dr Lupton explores the extent to which targeted sanctions and artificial intelligence (AI) have an impacted the document examination process under documentary credits. He shared insights into the practice of conducting sanctions screening on the documents tendered for payment, and also the use of AI when determining the conformity of the documents.

The Centre held a small reception attended by the Centre’s researchers and Mr Michael Webb, O’Connell Street Barristers, New Zealand, after the webinar.
