Benjamin GOH
Benjamin Goh is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore. He works in the field of law and literature, particularly at the intersections of jurisprudence and aesthetics, postcolonial theory and literature, and the history of authorship and copyright. His first monograph, The Materiality of Literature: Rereading Authorship and Copyright with Kant, addressed the limits of copyright qua proprietary authorship through the media theorist and practitioner’s contributions to the German Enlightenment. Goh has further written a series of articles on the planetary turn in law and literature, drawing on the works of Gayatri Spivak, J. M. Coetzee, Ariella Azoulay, Sonny Liew, and others to work across borders in geography, disciplines, fields, and media. At present Goh is mostly working on his second monograph in legal aesthetics, which apprehends the formal dimensions of twentieth-century jurisprudence through Theodor W. Adorno’s aesthetic theory and wider critical oeuvre.
