Description
In 2015, the landmark Paris Agreement on climate change was adopted with a central aim to limit the rise of global temperature to well below 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels. The promulgation of the Katowice Rules in December 2018 has laid the ground for full implementation of Paris Agreement in the coming years. However, recent developments indicate that some major economies, including Germany, will not be able to meet their near-term emissions reduction targets. In addition, the Trump administration has withdrawn US participation in the Paris Agreement.
This conference, jointly organised by the Asia-Pacific Centre for Environmental Law (APCEL) of National University of Singapore, the Institute of Law for Science and Technology (ILST) of National Tsing Hua University and Sustainability College Bruges (SCB) aims to provide a collaborative platform to exchange knowledge and ideas on the ways forward for global climate change law and policy.
