Description

Which jurisdiction and institution should parties choose to arbitrate in the Asia Pacific? What is the level(s) of development among Asia Pacific arbitration jurisdictions? In light of China’s Belt and Road (BRI) Development and the associated demand on arbitration in the Asia Pacific, this seminar examines the arbitration reforms of Asian Pacific jurisdictions in the context of their economic, political, and judicial dynamics. This seminar provides a firsttime cross-jurisdiction comparative and contextual study of the developing world of arbitration in the Asia Pacific and contributes to the comparative international arbitration jurisprudence from a more Eastern perspective. This seminar also aims to link the development of arbitration and the economic well-being of the society such that many developing economies in the Asia Pacific would benefit from a study of arbitration reform (or the lack of it) in economically more developed jurisdictions so as to learn from their successful strategies and to avoid imitating their failure.
