Based on her experience as a China correspondent for Lianhe Zaobao based in Beijing, Ms Han Yong Hong will share with us her observations about how formal legal rules worked in tandem with possibly illegal informal rules and customs in the Chinese society.

She will also talk about the clash and convergence on legal, business cultural and ethical issues between the Singapore society and the Chinese society in China.

About The Speaker

Han Yong Hong joined Lianhe Zaobao, a Singapore Chinese language daily, upon her graduation from the National University of Singapore with a Masters in Arts and Humanities in 2000. She was sent to Beijing in 2005 and served as an overseas correspondent for Lianhe Zaobao from then to 2012, where she covered a wide range of major events including the Beijing Olympics, Sichuan earthquake, Xinjiang riots, and the 18th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party.

She received the Young Achiever Award in 2011 by Business China Singapore in recognition of her writings and reports about contemporary China. Yong Hong is now the editor for China news in Lianhe Zaobao.
