Description

Scholars from the Third World have sought over many decades to develop a vision of international law that would promote the interests of Third World peoples. The speakers at this event will discuss this tradition, its characteristics and evolution, and the challenges it confronts in the context of contemporary events such as the Global Financial Crisis, the War on Terror and the emergence of the BRICS. They will also critically discuss the recent attempts of scholars belonging to the `Third World Approaches to International Law’ (TWAIL) to build upon this tradition.
