Description

China is trying to promote entrepreneurship and high-tech industries by attracting more private equity investment. It has been ranked as the second largest PE absorbing country right after the US.

However, it is a mystery to see PE investment is booming and well received in China due to its user-unfriendly corporate law regime. The talk tries to unveil this mystery.

About The Speaker

Professor Shen Wei is KoGuan Chair Professor of Law at Shanghai Jiao Tong University Law School and Global Professor of Law at New York University School of Law. He obtained his PhD from London School of Economics, and is a lawyer qualified in New York practising for a decade, mostly in Hong Kong, on foreign direct investment, private equity and mergers and acquisitions.

His main research interests include financial regulation, corporate governance, international investment law and commercial arbitration. Professor Shen is an arbitrator with Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, Shanghai International Arbitration Centre, Shanghai Arbitration Commission, and Shenzhen International Court of Arbitration.
