Anand was educated at Raffles Institution & Raffles Junior College then read law at the National University of Singapore before admission as an Advocate & Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore. Thereafter, Anand developed expertise in criminal law – including capital and general offences as well as financial and technology crimes – and represented accused persons at all levels of civilian and military courts. After over 20 years in private practice, Anand joined the Public Defender’s Office, a department of the Ministry of Law, and has been appointed the Deputy Chief Public Defender. Anand is a Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators and an Associate Mediator of the Singapore Mediation Centre. Anand supports charitable and community organisations – and has been conferred the Pingat Bakti Masyarakat (Public Service Medal).
