Professor Fabien Gélinas AdE is Sir William C. Macdonald Chair at McGill University. He teaches and conducts research in the areas of international dispute resolution, common law and civil law contracts, commercial law and legal theory. Formerly General Counsel of the ICC International Court of Arbitration, he is immediate past president of the Arbitration Committee of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and ICC Canada. He is a member of the Quebec Bar and acts as arbitrator, expert and consultant on dispute resolution and legal reform.

Professor Gélinas holds a doctorate in law from the University of Oxford and is a cofounder of the Montreal Cyberjustice Laboratory. He was a Norton Rose Fulbright Faculty Scholar in Arbitration and Commercial Law at McGill and now heads the McGill Private Justice and the Rule of Law Research group. Professor Gélinas has held visiting appointments or lectured at the Centre d’études diplomatiques et stratégiques de Paris (École des hautes études internationales), the Université de Paris II – Panthéon Assas, Trinity College Dublin, New York University, and Sciences Po Paris.
