Associate Professor

Dr Burton Ong is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law at the National University of Singapore. He obtained his undergraduate and graduate legal training at the National University of Singapore and Oxford University, where he was awarded the Lee Kuan Yew Gold Medal and the Vinerian Scholarship, as well as at Harvard Law School. Apart from Competition Law, he teaches and researches in the areas of Contract Law, Intellectual Property Law and Biodiversity Law. He has taught competition law modules to undergraduate and graduate students, both with legal and non-legal backgrounds, as well as non-legally trained IP professionals. He received University level awards for teaching excellence in 2008 and 2022.

Dr Burton Ong is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law at the National University of Singapore. He obtained his undergraduate and graduate legal training at the National University of Singapore and Oxford University, where he was awarded the Lee Kuan Yew Gold Medal and the Vinerian Scholarship, as well as at Harvard Law School. Apart from Competition Law, he teaches and researches in the areas of Contract Law, Intellectual Property Law and Biodiversity Law. He has taught competition law modules to undergraduate and graduate students, both with legal and non-legal backgrounds, as well as non-legally trained IP professionals. He received University level awards for teaching excellence in 2008 and 2022.

Since 2015, he has coached several teams of his undergraduate competition law students representing NUS at the Herbert Smith Freehills competition law moot competition, where they have emerged as champions in 2015 and 2022, while securing the runners-up position in 2017, 2020 and 2021.
