NUS Law welcomes Pioneer Cohort of Graduate Certificate in Criminal Justice Students

NUS Law welcomed our pioneer cohort of Graduate Certificate in Criminal Justice students on 11 January 2018. 30 Senior Investigation Officers from the Home Team agencies form the first class of students enrolled in the programme. This is a collaboration between the Faculty, Home Team Academy and Home Team School of Criminal Investigation with support from the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC).

Mr T. Raja Kumar ’85, Deputy Secretary (International) at the Ministry of Home Affairs and Chief Executive of Home Team Academy said: “The inception of this course marks the beginning of an important milestone for the Home Team as it will offer Home Team officers the opportunity of attending a bespoke NUS postgraduate programme for the first time. This adds quality to the avenues that we are opening up for training and learning in the Home Team.  It will boost professional development and make investigation work more attractive for promising officers interested in performing investigation duties. With greater professional development, and better trained officers, more effective service can be rendered to the public, translating into greater public confidence in the Home Team.”

The Graduate Certificate in Criminal Justice is offered by the Continuing Legal Education (CLE) programme at NUS Law. CLE aims to provide an avenue for the Faculty to engage the legal community in professional dialogue, particularly on recent developments. It also hopes to provide a forum for the dissemination of views and sharing of expertise relating to particular areas of law. More information about CLE is available here.
