NUS Law alumni take office as Law Society’s office-bearers

We congratulate four of our alumni who have been appointed as office-bearers of The Law Society of Singapore for 2026. Professor Tan Cheng Han, S.C. ’87 takes office as the new President, with Mr Dinesh Singh Dhillon ’94 and Mr Koh Choon Guan Daniel ’93 appointed as Vice Presidents, and Ms Yee May Kuen Peggy Sarah ’87 assuming the role of Treasurer.

We are proud to celebrate the achievements of our alumni as they continue to shape and strengthen Singapore’s legal community.

President

Professor Tan is the Chief Strategy Officer at NUS Law. As a Professor of Commercial Law, he also serves as President of the Asian Law Schools Association, and Co-Director of the Centre for Technology, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence and the Law.

His other current roles include being a Senior Consultant at Wong Partnership, Chairman of Singapore Exchange Regulation, President of the Asian Law Schools Association, and a member of the Singapore Business Federation’s Board of Trustees. He was Dean of NUS Law from 2001 to 2011.

 
Vice Presidents

As Co-Head of Allen & Gledhill’s International Arbitration Practice, Mr Dinesh is also the Chairman of Pro Bono SG, taking on the latter position only in January this year. He is Co-Chair of the Asia Pacific Regional Forum of the International Bar Association, and of the Legal and Intellectual Property Rights Committee of The American Chamber of Commerce in Singapore. He he acted as Lead Counsel in international arbitration for global multinational corporations, and also represented sovereign states in international arbitration cases.

Mr Dinesh is dual qualified in Singapore and the United Kingdom. He is a Barrister (Middle Temple) with a practising certificate issued by the Bar Standards Board with rights of full audience (England and Wales).

Mr Koh is a founding partner of Eldan Law. His clients include major MNCs and public listed companies. He often acts as instructed Lead Counsel engaged by other law firms in matters at the High Court and the Court of Appeal, and has also been Lead Counsel in arbitrations administered by the SIAC and the ICC. He has, in addition, been on the Law Society Inquiry Panel and Review Committees to review complaints and charges filed against solicitors pertaining to their practice and conduct.

He was called to the Singapore Bar in 1994 and has a Master’s from Columbia University, where he graduated as a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. Over the years, he has developed an extensive broad-based practice in commercial disputes resolution and international arbitration.

Treasurer

Ms Yee is Director of PY Legal and has been in active legal practice since 1988. She handles a broad spectrum of legal matters, covering conveyancing, wills and estate planning and corporate work, with a particular interest in family law. She has extensive experience in various aspects of legal practice, acting for multinational, local and individual clients alike.
