The Centre administers pro bono projects for NUS Law students, and creates opportunities for NUS Law students to undertake a range of elective law clinic courses where, under guided mentorship, clinical students will develop their legal skills and substantive legal knowledge by working on real cases.
To truly realise the Centre’s mandate of providing NUS Law students with as many chances as possible to use their real-life skills for real-world good, the Centre is eager to collaborate with partners who share a passion for service to the community.
The Centre is always on the lookout for new and varied opportunities that offer an interesting learning experience for our students. Please do connect with us if you are keen to partner with us, or to offer your support in other ways.
COLLABORATE
Pro Bono @ NUS Law
The Centre offers a range of legal awareness talks. If you work with an organisation whose beneficiaries are needy members of the public who would be interested in attending legal talks on matters of relevance to them, and presented in an understandable manner, please contact us.
Alternatively, you may wish to collaborate with the Centre to create a new pro bono project. All pro bono projects require SILE approval. The Centre is happy to work with you to draft the SILE Host application form, and we will be able to submit the form to SILE on your behalf.
To qualify as an SILE approved pro bono project the project must involve:
- Activities that substantially involve the application of legal knowledge and skills by law students;
- Activities that are undertaken without financial reward or academic credit (other than to fulfil a graduation requirement); and
- Activities that have, as their primary purpose, increasing access to justice (this includes raising awareness of legal rights, liabilities and responsibilities, and of self-help remedies such as mediation, negotiation and alternative means of conflict resolution) for disadvantaged persons.
For further details please visit the SILE Criteria and Guidelines for Approved Pro Bono Work.
