Kannan is dedicated to being a voice for those who are too afraid or cannot speak up for themselves. Raised in the Heartlands and having taken a “non-traditional” route to becoming a lawyer, Kannan believes that access to justice and affordable legal representation are cornerstones of modern society.
Kannan is strongly guided by the principle of Therapeutic Justice in family law. He aims to deescalate conflict and support his clients through a daunting period of their life. Kannan also strives to help parents realise that ultimately their children’s emotional wellbeing and happiness post-divorce benefits from them putting aside their anguish and anger to co-parent with each other.
Kannan actively gives back to the community as a volunteer lawyer with the Legal Aid Bureau (LAB) and the Family Justice Support Scheme (FJSS). Kannan is also heavily involved in working towards the improvement of the legal profession and serves on two (2) Law Society Standing Committees namely, the Family Law Practice Committee and the Muslim Law Practice Committee.
Kannan is of Indian-Chinese heritage and is bilingual in English and Mandarin.
