8th Developments in IP Law Series

February 8, 2021 | Faculty, Research

The EW Barker Centre for Law & Business (EWBCLB) is delighted to continue its partnership with IPOS International to co-present the 8th Developments in IP Law Series.

This flagship programme for IP professionals covers key developments in intellectual property law in Singapore and the UK, and where relevant, developments in the EU, US, and Australia are also discussed in this series, which typically runs in the first quarter of the year at the Suntec City Convention Centre. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the series is conducted over Zoom this year.

On 21 January 2021, Professor David Tan (Vice Dean (Academic Affairs), NUS Law; Head (Intellectual Property), EWBLCB) kicked off the series with an update on copyright decisions in Singapore and the United States, while Professor Martin Senftleben (Professor of IP Law and Director, Institute for Information Law (IViR), Faculty of Law, University of Amsterdam; Visiting Professor, NUS Law) delivered the update on developments in the European Union and the United Kingdom. Mrs Rena Lee ’92 (Chief Executive, IPOS) also extended a warm welcome to all participants.

The four main domains of IP are covered in four half-day sessions across January and February 2021: Copyright, Breach of Confidence/Privacy and Data Protection (4 Feb), Trade Marks/Passing Off (18 Feb), and Patents (23 Feb). This 8th edition features a strong line-up of speakers from NUS: Professor Susanna Leong, Assistant Professor Ryan Whalen and Sheridan Fellow Benjamin Wong.
