October 11, 2021 | In the News

Congratulations to Associate Professor Simon Tay ’86 on winning the S.E.A. Write Award for Singapore, a regional award conferred on leading ASEAN poets and writers. Prof Tay has published poetry and short stories, such as Middle And First (2016), and also won the 2010 Singapore Literature Prize for his novel City Of Small Blessings. Look out for more literary works from him – he is currently working on two books, a poetry collection, and a creative non-fiction work about his father.

Given annually since 1979 to leading poets and writers in the 10 Asean countries, the award will be presented at a ceremony next year due to pandemic delays.

The award was announced on Thursday, 7 Oct, by the Singapore Book Council. Details are in the Straits Times story here.
