At the panel discussion, Dr Melissa Crouch, along with two contributors, Dr Nyi Nyi Kyaw and Dr Alistair Cook, shared their perspectives on the book. The panel was chaired by Dr Ronojoy Sen, and the book was officially launched by Special Guest Commentator, Associate Professor Farish Noor of the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, Nanyang Technological University.

The book provides an informed, scholarly response to contemporary issues facing the Muslim communities of Myanmar from both an empirical and a comparative perspective. This book comes at a critical juncture in Myanmar’s history and at a time when there is an urgent need for deeper knowledge of Muslim communities in Buddhist-majority Myanmar.
The book is based on papers that were presented at a conference sponsored by the Centre for Asian Legal Studies in 2014.
Dr Crouch was a Research Fellow at the Centre for Asian Legal Studies from 2013 to 2014. She would particularly like to thank Professor Andrew Harding (NUS Law) for his support of this project.
The book is available from Oxford University Press.
