Freshmen Inauguration Ceremony 2019

NUS Law welcomed its latest cohort of students at the 2019 Freshmen Inauguration Ceremony held on 6 August.
Professor Simon Chesterman (Dean, NUS Law) welcomed students and encouraged them to make the most of the opportunities given at NUS Law, and gave students advice on how to grow professionally and personally.

This year’s ceremony was graced by Guest-of-Honour, Justice Debbie Ong ’89 (Supreme Court of Singapore). In her speech, Justice Ong reminded the cohort that every student has a duty to uphold justice and must remember the values of their education. Sharing her experiences as an alumna, she also encouraged students to build strong bonds with classmates and enjoy the rigour of law school.
