Launch of Centre for Legal Theory

February 5, 2015 | School
Dean Simon Chesterman with Professor Andrew Halpin.

The new Centre for Legal Theory (CLT) was launched on 5 February 2015 at the Faculty. The Centre brings together colleagues in the Faculty of Law interested in a variety of theoretical approaches to law, including those informed by related disciplines. CLT exists to promote formal and informal exchanges on theoretical work by members of the Centre and other colleagues. More details on the Centre can be found at http://www.law.nus.edu.sg/clt/

As a part of a research project led by Assistant Professor Nicole Roughan and Professor Andrew Halpin, a conference titled, “In Pursuit of Pluralist Jurisprudence” was held at the Faculty on 5 & 6 February 2015. The conference featured scholars with a variety of academic interests who addressed the significant gaps surrounding questions of jurisprudential methodology, purpose and scope posed by the growing field of law beyond the state. More information on the project can be found at: http://law.nus.edu.sg/clt/research/in_pursuit_of_plural_juris.html
