New Chair of NUS Law Advisory Council appointed

June 10, 2019 | School

NUS Law is pleased to announce the appointment of the Honourable Justice Andrew Phang ’82 as the new Chair of the NUS Law Advisory Council.

The Advisory Council provides advice and support to the decanal team and acts as a liaison between NUS Law and the legal profession in Singapore and internationally.

Justice Phang takes over from former Deputy Prime Minister and former NUS Law Dean (1974-1980), Professor S Jayakumar ’63, who served as the Chair of the Council from its establishment in 2012.

As an alumnus, Prof Jayakumar provided a model of what NUS Law hopes its graduates will be: leaders in their field with a deep commitment to public service.

As Chair of the Council, Prof Jayakumar’s vision and insight have been of great benefit to NUS Law. Together with the Council, his advice has played a key role in helping the Faculty craft its strategy to enhance legal education and research in Singapore, and to become an outstanding law school, now recognised as a leader both regionally and globally.

We would like to express our deep gratitude to Professor Jayakumar for his years of service and contributions to the Council.
