New Student Exchange Programme with the University of Cambridge

November 11, 2021 | Faculty, In the News, School

NUS Law is pleased to announce our new student exchange partnership with the Faculty of Law, University of Cambridge (“Cambridge”).

Starting from the next academic year, we expect to be able to offer up to 3 places in this exchange programme. Participating NUS Law students will spend their third year at Cambridge before returning to complete their final year. We are delighted that our students will have the opportunity to experience being part of the collegiate community at one of the world’s oldest and finest law schools that is renowned for the quality of its teaching and inspirational environment.

Equally, we look forward to welcoming students from Cambridge, sharing Singapore’s vibrant multicultural heritage, and encouraging their unique contributions to the diverse perspectives of our students and faculty from Singapore, Asia, and around the world.

Professor Simon Chesterman, Dean of NUS Law, said, “NUS Law has a long tradition of collaboration with Cambridge in research and education. This new agreement strengthens and deepens those ties, facilitating the movement of students between our two law schools. I know our students will benefit from a year in Cambridge to see the law through new eyes, just as we look forward to welcoming Cambridge’s students into our own classrooms.”

Professor Mark Elliott, Chair of the Cambridge Law Faculty, said, “I am delighted that it has been possible to establish this new student exchange scheme, which builds on existing relationships between our two law schools. We greatly look forward to working with NUS on this new project, to welcoming NUS students to Cambridge and to affording our own students an invaluable opportunity to spend a year immersing themselves in another legal culture.’
