(L to R): Zephan Hwang ’24, Glenda Tan ’24

We are pleased to announce that NUS Law clinched the “Best Presentation Award” in the International Youth Legal Exchange Conference (IYELC) organised by the International Youth Legal Exchange Federation and the Department of Justice of the Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The virtual competition took place on Saturday, 11 September 2021, which saw delegations from 11 jurisdictions. Delegates were expected to write an essay exploring access to justice in their respective jurisdiction and to present their findings.

The NUS Law team was made up of:
Zephan Hwang ’24
Glenda Tan ’24

“For the competition, we had to write a paper on access to justice and rule of law in Singapore and present our findings to the adjudicating panel. While it was tough preparing for the competition, it was a deeply enriching and insightful experience learning about the law from other jurisdictions (such as Thailand, Vietnam and Mongolia).” – Zephan Hwang, Glenda Tan

The NUS contingent clinched the “Best Presentation” prize, one of the top prizes within the competition. They would like to thank their coaches Jerald Tan ’22 and Khin Yadanar Oo ’23 for their invaluable help in their preparations. In addition, they would like to sincerely thank Professor Helena Whalen Bridge for her guidance and advice.

Congratulations Zephan and Glenda!
