Professor James Penner in Tokyo

Professor James Penner, Vice Dean (Research), recently concluded a working visit to Tokyo at the end of February where he delivered 3 lectures. On 26 February 2015, he was hosted by Professor Megumi Hara at Gakashuin University where he gave a lecture ‘Perspectives on the Common Law Approach to Property’. On 27 February, he spoke at the University of Tokyo, at a lecture jointly organised by the “Minpo-konwa” (Anglo-American) Workshop and the Nomi workshop, chaired by Masami Okino, on the nature of common law trusts and equitable beneficial interests. The discussant was Professor Yoshihisa Nomi of Gakushuin University, Professor Emeritus of the University of Tokyo. On 28 February, he was hosted by Professor Katsumi Yoshida at Waseda University where Professor Penner spoke on ‘Recent Theoretical Debates over the Nature of Property Rights’.
