Professorial Fellow Stanley Yeo Volunteers in Cyclone-hit Vanuatu

In March 2015, Cyclone Pam hit the South Pacific Island of Vanuatu. In the aftermath, the Head of the Law School at the University of the South Pacific (USP), Professor Eric Colvin, appealed to the international legal academic community for teachers and books. In response to the appeal, NUS Law sent a collection of textbooks and Professorial Fellow Stanley Yeo offered to teach a three-week intensive course on Comparative Criminal Law in December 2015. He taught 18 students from several island nations. Stanley also benefited from his time in Vanuatu, learning about their culture, lifestyle and criminal justice system including fault elements for murder, manslaughter, sexual assault, the defences of provocation, self-defence and insanity, and joint criminal enterprise.
