The 2nd Conference of the EU Asia Corporate Governance Dialogue Series

The Centre for Law & Business (CLB) and the European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI) co-organised the 2nd Conference of the EU Asia Corporate Governance Dialogue Series on 24 February 2015 at the Multipurpose Auditorium at the NUS Bukit Timah Campus.

The theme of this conference was Corporate Governance and Large Shareholders and the programme was divided into two sessions. The morning session on Corporate Governance of State-Owned Enterprises provided insight into some of the likely changes in the upcoming revision of the OECD Guidelines on Corporate Governance of State-Owned Enterprises and an overview of recent regulatory developments in Singapore, China and India. The afternoon session on Regulating Controlling Shareholders looked at how countries such as Singapore, Japan and Korea handle the issue of regulating controlling shareholders through legal means.

The conference, attended by 117 local and overseas participants, was graced by the Prof Simon Chesterman, Dean, Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore; Mr Paul F. Winkelmann, Partner, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Hong Kong; Mr Bernhard N. Faustenhammer, Chargé d’Affaires a.i., Delegation of the European Union to Singapore; and, Mr David Devlin, Chairman of the European Corporate Governance Institute.
