Jerrie Tan is an experienced litigator who has acted in high-profile commercial disputes and high stakes criminal matters.
Jerrie started her career at Eugene Thuraisingam LLP in 2013, when the firm had just begun as a sole proprietorship. During her time in the firm, she had acted as Lead Counsel in contested hearings against Senior Counsel and had achieved successful outcomes. After 8 years spent in an international law firm working under a Senior Counsel, Jerrie is returning to her roots bringing with her an active commercial and criminal litigation practice. Jerrie is fluent in Mandarin and has a particular focus serving Mandarin-speaking clients and clients based in China. In 2018, Jerrie was one of the 100 lawyers around the world selected to attend at Tsinghua University in China for a Continuing Legal Education course.
Drawing upon her extensive experience in both commercial and criminal law, Jerrie has also acted and advised listed companies and multinational corporations in complex corporate investigations. She is a consistent face in the Singapore Supreme Court and has more than 40 reported judgments to her name. She has also acted as Lead Counsel in international arbitration proceedings with the Singapore International Arbitration Centre.
Jerrie believes strongly in giving back to society and regularly acts for accused persons facing death penalty charges on a pro bono basis. She is one of the youngest female lawyers that have been appointed to the Lead Counsel panel under the Legal Assistance Scheme for Capital Offences (LASCO) administered by the Supreme Court of Singapore.
Having been mentored by many Giants before her, Jerrie believes in playing it forward and empowering the next generation of lawyers. She teaches the Advocacy course for law students undergoing the bar exam, and is an Adjunct Fellow with the National University of Singapore, Centre for Pro Bono and Clinical Legal Education. Jerrie is also part of the Criminal Advocacy Subcommittee and has organized webinars and workshops for practicing lawyers as part of their Continuing Professional Development.
