Application & Eligibility
Full-time NUS Law LLB students who have completed their first two years of studies, and JD students who have completed their first year of study are eligible. LLM students are generally not eligible unless specified. For queries on eligibility, please reach out to your Academic Affairs representative for clarification.
Clinic courses are currently offered in three tranches per academic year, running for 12 weeks per tranche:
- Summer Tranche (May to July) – Apply in April
- Semester One Tranche (August to November) – Apply in July
- Semester Two Tranche (December to April) – Apply in October
CPBCLE sends email notifications to eligible students on the available law clinics and the application deadline at the start of every application cycle. Interviews may be required for select clinics.
Subject to availability, allocation is based on the following factors, which are not exhaustive:
- Student’s preferred clinic
- Relevant courses taken
- Statement of interest
- Interview performance (where applicable)
Yes, you may apply for your preferred clinics in subsequent tranches.
If a student's application is successful, the student is typically allocated only one clinic per semester.
The law clinic elective will be pre-allocated to you, and you will not be required to separately ballot for the same clinic elective.
No. Pre-allocation of a law clinic elective is a separate process and do not impact your ranked course choices at the time of course balloting and the resulting allocation.
