The EW Barker Centre for Law & Business (EWBCLB) continues its partnership with IPOS International to co-organise the 9th Developments in IP Law series in 2022. This series brings together academics, judges, practitioners and policymakers to discuss key decisions in 2021 in Singapore, the United Kingdom, the United States and Australia in the following areas: Trade Marks/Passing Off (20 Jan 2022); Patents (27 Jan 2022); Breach of Confidence/Privacy & Data Protection (10 Feb 2022); Copyright (17 Feb 2022).

Traditionally an in-person seminar series held at Suntec City, marquee event had to go virtual for the second year in a row due to the pandemic. Nonetheless, the attendance remains strong with 165 participants.

Professor David Tan, Head (Intellectual Property) at EWBCLB, kicked off the first session on Trade Marks/Passing Off on 20 Jan 2022. The other panelists include Justice Andre Maniam (Singapore High Court), Justice James Mellor QC (High Court of England & Wales), and NUS Adjunct Professor Mark Lim (Director/Chief Legal Counsel, Hearings & Mediation, IPOS International).
