3rd NUS-Sydney Law Symposium

September 24, 2014 | Faculty

The third NUS-Sydney Law Symposium swung into action on 25 September 2014 for two days in Sydney where academics from both NUS Law and Sydney Law School gathered to discuss issues on the role of private law in trade and commerce, and media and intellectual property law.

This bilateral event started in 2009 and both law schools have agreed to take turns to host the symposium. The next symposium is expected to be in Singapore in 2016, and will be hosted by the Centre for Law & Business at NUS Law.

The diverse topics covered at this Symposium ranged from reforming privacy law in Australia and Singapore (Prof Barbara McDonald) to states as corporations in investment contract arbitration (Asst Prof Jean Ho), from restitutionary liability for mistaken payments (Prof James Penner) to Australia’s international intellectual property policy (Assoc Prof Kimberlee Weatherall).
