Competition Law in Singapore and the ASEAN Economic Community: A Discussion with the CCCS

November 8, 2023 | In the News

The senior management team from the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore (CCCS) were invited to the NUS Law Faculty on 7 November 2023 to participate in an interactive panel discussion with the law school community, where audience members were treated to an engaging and illuminating session that covered recent competition law developments in Singapore and the ASEAN Economic Community.  The speakers – Ms Sia Aik Kor ‘97(Dip Sing) (Chief Executive), Ms Ng Ee Kia (Assistant Chief Executive – Economics, Policy & Data) and Ms Winnie Ching (Senior Director, Legal) – candidly shared their views on the evolution of Singapore’s competition law and policy framework since 2006 and answered a wide range of questions raised by students who had previously read through a range of the CCCS’ infringement decisions. The audience was given a rare opportunity to gain insights into the regulatory and advisory roles performed by the national competition authority from the perspective of long-serving stalwarts with unparalleled practical experience in this field of law.
